One of my very favorite projects (and looks!) are the mini wedding cakes. Mini wedding cakes are either 2 or 3 tier cakes, stacked and decorated to look like wedding cakes. They can be used as individual desserts or packaged in beautiful, acrylic boxes and presented as an edible wedding favor. Generally, the serving size is plenty for 2 people, or one total sweets fan!
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to design and create 105, 3-tier mini wedding cake favors that were presented to the guests of a wedding held at The Venetian in Garfield, New Jersey. Each acrylic box contained a beautiful rose gold and pearls 3 tier mini wedding cake. Each mini cake was topped with a rose gold heart topper. Mini cakes are such a thoughtful gift, though, admittedly, they come with a higher price tag due to the amount of labor that is involved with each cake. These cakes had to be of a certain size, both diameter and height, so it was necessary to hand cut each cake tier, ice each tier, cover it with fondant, stack and decorate. My staff and I made 1100 double blossoms, 700+ strands of pearls, 105 heart toppers for a total of over 220 hours in labor. Mini Wedding Cake favors are the true definition of “labor of love.” The results? Completely worth it. See for yourself in the photos below!
