On December 8th, we presented to Krista and Craig a most stunning wedding cake at a beautiful New Jersey wedding venue, The Park Savoy.
Krista and her mom approached me with a specific request: they wanted the lace details on Krista's wedding dress replicated onto the couple's wedding cake. What makes this cake unique from some of our other lace wedding cakes is the intense amount of detail. There was an insane amount of pearl and beading details on Krista's gorgeous gown.
Krista loved the look of square-shaped cakes and decided to go with square tiers. Not all lace designs will look good on a square cake, but I thought the particular details on her cake would give a square cake a nice, romantic feel. Another design element we worked with was elevated cake tiers. The bottom 2 cake tiers are the same height, but the top 3 cake tiers are slightly taller. We also added a styrofoam faux tier spacer that was 3" tall.
We planned the lace design for 3 of the cake tiers with the remaining 2 cake tiers have falling edible sequins and beads. These two beaded cake tiers also had a sequined border to add just a bit more "wow" to the overall look.
No cake can be quite complete without sugar flowers. Or, at least I think so! Adding to the detailed embellisments are sugar flowers of peonies, orchides and hydrangea.
It takes a village - or a team - to pull off a seamless wedding. Here is a list of those vendors whose work is shown in the photo below.
